Zhu Di "Judy the Sharpshooter" multipurpose Long Siyah Bow
by Alibow
This bow is based on long siyah bows of the Yuan dynasty to possibly early Ming dynasty. These long siyah bows are distinct from previous long siyah bows, in that the siyah becomes slightly recurved instead of completely straight. It is considered a transitional form.
Based on customer feedback over the years, Ali Bow has added new features including reinforced siyah tips, a modified grip for more comfort and control, and a narrow arrow pass for better arrow flight. At light draw weight (less than 40#@32") the arrow pass is particularly narrow, making it ideal for target shooting.
Over 55#@32" the bow is still long enough to sustain a 32" draw length, and the bow is good at shooting both light (9 gpp) and heavy (over 12gpp, up to 16 gpp) arrows. Therefore it is also a good entry level war bow for archers interested to try the lower military draw weight of that time period. According to records of the Ming dynasty, the military draw weight is from about 52lbs (40 jin) to about 92lbs (70 jin).
- String Length: approx. 131cm
- Draw length: up to 32"
- Draw Weight: 25 to 80 lbs at 32''
- Suggested Arrow Weight: 12 gpp minimum for warbow (over 55#@32"), 9 gpp minimum (25# to 50#@32")
The bow is named after the legendary Emperor Zhu Di (nicknamed by recent netizens as "Judy" because of the pronunciation), the 3rd emperor of the Ming dynasty, the usurper, the bane of mongol khans, patron of arts, patron of treasure fleets, a man with nice beard, and a great archer and rider.
